The former daytime television icon revealed on This Morning that he is struggling since the revelation of his affair with a younger male colleague.

Phillip Schofield claims he is terrified to leave the house because he fears getting spat on.

Last week, the presenter resigned from ITV and was dismissed by his talent agency, YMU, after admitting to having an “unwise, but not illegal” relationship with his This Morning coworker.

Schofield’s affair occurred while he was still married to his wife Stephanie Lowe and before he publicly came out as homosexual.

TV presenter fears street spitting after affair.

When asked by ITV in early 2020 about the allegations, he denied having a romantic relationship with a colleague.

He told The Sun on Friday night, “I do not know when I will be able to leave.”

“I am devoid of vitality.

“My friends assure me, ‘It will get better’.

It will not. Not today. Not in this case”

Schofield told the newspaper that he had never been verbally assaulted on the street before, but that he now fears being yelled at or spit upon, asking, “Are they spitting on me because I had an affair at work and lied about it?”

You observe as all these layers of you, the things you held dear, slide away, slide away, slide away.

“But I deserve it. I am at fault. I deserve it.”

He added, “I’m surviving hour by hour.” I have my girlfriends and acquaintances.”

Since the revelations, the 61-year-old said he has been harassed on Twitter and Instagram; he has since purged all apps and muted notifications, insisting he will never use social media again.

He told The Sun, “Why would I ever, ever go back there?”

ITV launched an external investigation after Schofield misled to ITV, his colleagues, and his wife about the affair.
