Christmas Day North Sea dives draw hundreds

Hundreds of individuals, many in holiday-themed costumes, braved the chilly seas of the Suffolk coast on Christmas Day.

When entering the North Sea in Felixstowe, Lowestoft, and Southwold, swimmers raised funds for various causes.

In recent years, the dips have not occurred due to a combination of the Covid epidemic and harsh weather.

The event organizers commended the enormous number of participants and spectators.

The 43rd edition of the Everyone Active 2022 Lowestoft Christmas Day Swim raised funds for the James Paget Charity Trust, the Lowestoft Volunteer Lifeguard Corps, the Lowestoft Lions, Dementia UK, St. John Ambulance, and the Brian Gallagher Football Fund.

The Felixstowe dip, which was held for the eighteenth time, benefited St Elizabeth Hospice, while the Southwold event benefited the Southwold RNLI, the Klondyke Skate Park project, and the East Anglian Air Ambulance.

Hundreds brave

Donna Taylor, general manager of Everyone Active’s Waterlane Leisure Centre in Lowestoft, remarked, “We are thrilled to have played a role in this exceptional event, which is so important to the local community and such wonderful charitable organizations.

“It was a pleasure to greet everyone this morning, not only the athletes but also the spectators of all ages who came to support them. There were some incredible costumes on show, and we congratulate those who participated.”

Nichola Whymark, of St Elizabeth Hospice, said, “Huge congratulations to all of our diapers for their incredible efforts, as well as to everyone who came out to support this morning.

It was fantastic to be able to hold the Christmas Day plunge on Felixstowe beach in its customary configuration.

It is the ideal way to start your Christmas Day with such a festive ambiance and a wide variety of festive attire.
