After a week of disruptions, some families in Kent and Sussex continue to be without water.

Kent’s Tunbridge Wells and Staplehurst, according to South East Water, continue to experience issues.

Until December 24, 16:30 GMT, bottled water stations are operational in Pembury, Kent, and Crowborough, East Sussex.

South East Water stated that a rupture caused reduced water pressure in Crawley Down, Turners Hill, and Selsfield, West Sussex.

On Christmas Eve, South East water troubles persist.

Since the 18th of December thaw, thousands of households have been damaged by frozen weather, which according to the firm caused pipes to rupture.

Douglas Whitfield, incident director for South East Water, stated, “We are continuing to investigate and repair leaks, and as soon as they are detected, we will make repairs to reconnect those customers as swiftly as possible.”

We continue to urge customers to save water.

Neil Greatorex from West Hoathly, West Sussex, stated, “Having gotten our water restored yesterday, we have awoken to find that we have no water once again, and it’s Christmas Eve, which makes the situation much worse.

South East water troubles persist

“South East Water currently reports that the completion time is tomorrow at 6 a.m.

This situation is currently so tense that it has a significant impact on the residents of our community and its environs.

The staff at the Hartley House Care Home in Cranbrook, Kent, has resorted to using baby wipes to clean residents, according to deputy manager Claire Brodericak.

“This morning, we were considering whether to cancel Christmas Day plans with family,” she said. However, because of Covid’s seclusion, we cannot do so to the locals.

Adam Casettari, manager of the King’s Head in Staplehurst, is frustrated by the impact on businesses.

He stated, “Every day it’s ‘it will be completed, it’s been mended.’ Even this morning, they stated that the issue will be resolved.

Since then, I’ve discovered that another pipe has burst someplace, so it will be at least another day before the water is restored.

Mims Davies, a representative for Mid-Sussex, said through Twitter that she has contacted South East Water over the ongoing issues.

In a statement, South East Water said, “We recognize the anxiety this has caused, especially in the lead-up to Christmas, and we apologize to all impacted customers.

“The network continues to stabilize, and as soon as this is complete, we will write to clients about compensation.”

The stations are located near the Woodsgate Corner Tesco Superstore in Pembury and the North Beeches Road Crowborough Beacon Academy in Crowborough.
