Sir Elton John will headline the Glastonbury Festival next summer, marking the last leg of his farewell tour in the United Kingdom.

On Sunday, 25 June, the performer will headline the Pyramid Stage and has promised a stunning departure.

There is no better way to bid farewell to my British supporters, he stated in a statement announcing the concert.

“I cannot wait to embrace the spirit of the world’s finest event. It will be extraordinarily emotional.”

More than five years will have passed since Sir Elton announced his 350-date Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour.

Elton John's final UK concert will be at Glastonbury 2023.

Multiple dates had to be rescheduled due to the Covid epidemic and the singer’s hip injury, which prevented the 75-year-old from spending more time with his young family in 2021 as originally planned.

He recently concluded the U.S. portion of his tour with a three-night stand at Los Angeles’s Dodger Stadium – where, in 1975, he solidified his superstar status with two historic performances while wearing a sequined Dodgers outfit.

This kit reappeared at his final concert in the United States, where he performed hits like Rocket Man, Tiny Dancer, Your Song, and Philadelphia Freedom.

In addition, he was joined by star guests Brandi Carlile, Kiki Dee, and Dua Lipa, who performed a duet on the Pnau remix of Cold Heart, the song that introduced Sir Elton to a new generation of fans last year.

His performance at Glastonbury will undoubtedly include similar shocks.

Thursday, the actor posted an Instagram snap with the comment, “One final date to announce… the Rocket Man is approaching.”

Festival organizer Emily Eavis confirmed the news on Friday morning, stating, “It brings me immense pleasure to inform you that the one and only Elton John will be performing on the Pyramid Stage on the Sunday evening of next year.

This will be the final UK performance of Elton’s final-ever tour, therefore we will close the Festival and commemorate this momentous occasion in both of our histories with the granddaddy of all farewells.

Sir Elton stated that he was “very excited” to perform at Worthy Farm.

“Every week on my radio show, I interview new artists, and Glastonbury is frequently considered as a turning point in their careers,” he remarked.

I have long liked the festival’s genuine and enthusiastic backing for the most promising new talent.

The concert will conclude the UK leg of Sir Elton’s farewell tour, which begins in March in Liverpool.

After Glastonbury, he has only seven European performances remaining until he quits touring.

However, the star has not ruled out the possibility of future one-off concert dates, telling that his “dream thing” would be a theatrical residency where he could perform lesser-known songs such as Amoreena and Original Sin instead of hits such as I’m Still Standing and Candle In The Wind.

“I’ve sung some of these songs nearly 5,000 times,” he added. “They’re lovely songs, and I’m grateful for them, but I’ve sung them enough.”

Sir Elton is the first headliner at next year’s Glastonbury festival, for which tickets have already sold out.

There are also rumors that Arctic Monkeys, Taylor Swift, and Guns N’ Roses will perform.
