According to Hailey Bieber, she has an ovarian cyst “the size of an apple.”

The 26-year-old woman who posted a photo of her stomach on Instagram stated she was not pregnant and claimed she has previously experienced the ailment.

“It’s never fun,” the American model informed her 49 million followers, adding that she does not have endometriosis or any other ovarian ailment.

She stated, “It’s unpleasant and achy and makes me feel queasy, bloated, and crampy.”

“Anyways… I’m confident that the majority of you can relate and comprehend. We have this.”

Speaking up about ovarian cysts will assist others, according to Hailey Bieber.

21-year-old Demelza May is among many who can connect.

Demelza tells she “had no idea” about ovarian cysts before she was diagnosed with them; her symptoms were frequently attributed to IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome).

It took around six months to correctly diagnose Demelza.

“In January 2021, I went to the emergency room for period pain and was sent home,” she adds. “In July, I returned with severe discomfort and was told it was a digestive issue,”

The 15cm by 15cm cyst eventually twisted because it had grown so huge.

What is a cyst of the ovary?

  • A bag filled with fluid forms on the ovary. They are extremely prevalent and rarely cause symptoms.
  • The majority of ovarian cysts occur naturally and resolve within a few months without therapy.
  • Typically, an ovarian cyst only produces symptoms if it divides, grows very large, or obstructs blood flow to the ovaries.
  • In such circumstances, symptoms may include pelvic pain, a frequent need to urinate, heavy, irregular, or lighter-than-normal periods, bloating, and a large abdomen.
  • If you have symptoms of an ovarian cyst, the NHS website recommends seeing a doctor.

Demelza states that she “had stomach difficulties for a time but wasn’t sure what they were.”

She found it annoying that her symptoms were dismissed as other stomach ailments.

Fortunately, her doctor insisted on an ultrasound.

“And it was determined that I had a huge ovarian cyst. It was twisted, which was the source of the stabbing agony “she adds.

“The primary symptom was abdominal discomfort. I just didn’t feel right in myself.”

“The surgeon told me that I may have had the cyst for several years”

She finds it “relieving” that something may be done “to alleviate the discomfort.”

Demelza commends Hailey for bringing attention to a medical concern that many people may not be aware of until they require immediate care.

“I was fortunate to retain my ovary,” she explains. It was pretty late in the game, so my ovary’s survival was a crapshoot, according to the doctors.

She adds, “I believe it encourages individuals to get a second opinion, investigate the symptoms thoroughly, and speak up about it.”
