Following an exceptionally warm spell, the United Kingdom is experiencing strong winds, heavy rain, flooding, and snow.

Until Friday at 6 p.m., the east of Scotland and the north-east of England are under yellow weather warnings.

Until 3 p.m., an amber rainfall warning was issued for the northeastern region of Scotland.

In England, there are also 11 flood warnings and 88 flood alerts.

Due to localized floods, all schools in Brechin, Montrose, and Kirriemuir were closed on Friday morning, along with more than a dozen others.

Strong gusts and heavy rain cause dozens of flood warnings across Britain.

A lane of the M9 westbound was stopped at J2 owing to flooding, and the A92 between Parbroath Crossroads and Melville Lodges in Fife was also closed due to water.

Tom Morgan, a Met Office meteorologist, predicted that locations covered by the amber alert will receive more than 100 mm of precipitation.

“With this type of precipitation, we anticipate some floods,” he warned.

Mr. Morgan stated that severe winds would also smash coastal regions.

“We have extremely powerful onshore winds and enormous waves,” he added.

“Transportation, including ferries and the road network, may be disrupted.”

He added that yellow warning areas may also experience flooding.

Temperatures will fluctuate between 9C and 11C, which is more common for this time of year.

Mr. Morgan said that the weekend’s weather will be “quite clear” with a potential of snow.

He stated, “Saturday and Sunday will be pretty clear.”

On high land and in the Scottish hills and Pennines, we may observe the first snowflakes of fall.

Mr. Morgan continued, “After Sunday, there is more uncertainty than usual.”

“The weather will likely be rather unpredictable, with a chance of rain and gusty winds.”
