Brazil’s new president fires army chief after far-right insurrection.

The army chief, General Julio Cesar de Arruda, has been fired. According to the Brazilian military’s official website. It follows concerns that army personnel permitted unrest to occur.

Concerned that the country’s democracy is in jeopardy due to an outbreak of far-right demonstrators. The president of Brazil has fired the country’s army chief.

According to the official website of the Brazilian military, General Julio Cesar de Arruda has been ousted from his position as army chief.

General Tomas Miguel Ribeiro Paiva, who led the Southeast Military Command, has replaced him.

After the invasion of Brazil’s congress, presidential palace, and supreme court at the beginning of January. Around 1,500 people have been detained.

Rioters sought military intervention to reinstate the far-right former president Jair Bolsonaro or to remove the freshly inaugurated leftist Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, also known as Lula, who won the election with only 50.9% of the vote.

Invading official institutions and destroying public property were supporters of the prior president.

Mr. Lula stated numerous times in public that there were those in the army who permitted the riots to occur.

Similarities to the Congress riots on January 6, 2021

The 6 January 2021 US Congress violence by rioters aiming to overthrow Joe Biden’s election triumph. Over former president Donald Trump was similar.

Mr. Lula met with the defense minister, the chief of staff, and the new army commander in Brasilia on Saturday evening.

Subsequently, Mr. Mucio stated that the 8 January riots had caused a “split in the level of confidence” among the army’s highest ranks. And the administration determined that a change was necessary.

Former president under scrutiny

Mr. Bolsonaro is currently under investigation for allegedly motivating his fans.

The highest court of Brazil has now committed to investigating the horrific incidents. Similar to how US officials investigated Donald Trump’s role in those in Washington.

Justice Alexandre de Moraes warned, in response to a plea from federal prosecutors, that “public actors who continue to cowardly collaborate against democracy to establish a state of exception will be held guilty.”

Mr. Bolsonaro, who is in the United States for medical treatment, will be probed for alleged “instigation and intellectual authorship of the anti-democratic activities that ended in vandalism and violence,” according to prosecutors.
