Donald Trump attended the Republican convention on Monday night, standing with his new running partner with his bandaged ear on display.
Donald Trump came to loud cheers at the National Republican Convention, wearing a white bandage over his right ear.
It is the former president’s first public appearance since being shot by 20-year-old gunman Thomas Crooks on Saturday night.
Mr Trump waved and pumped his fist as he entered the crowded auditorium, chanting “fight, fight, fight” from the audience.
He remained among his fans for approximately an hour.
Earlier in the evening, JD Vance, a former critic who previously compared Trump to Hitler and called him “cultural heroin,” was unveiled as his running mate.
Senator Vance is now a passionate supporter of Mr Trump’s politics, frequently repeating his opinion that the Democrats “stole” the 2020 election.
“I said some bad things about Trump ten years ago, but I think it’s actually important to be able to admit when you’re wrong,” he told Fox News on Monday night.
Trump and Biden’s phone conversation
After the attempted assassination of his political foe on Saturday, President Joe Biden claimed he and Mr Trump spoke on the phone in a “very cordial” manner.
“He sounded good,” Mr. Biden told NBC’s Lester Holt.
“He replied that he was alright and thanked me for phoning him. I told him he was in Jill’s and my prayers, and I hoped his entire family was dealing with this.
In an interview with ABC, Mr. Trump stated that Mr. Biden “couldn’t have been nicer” during the call.
The ‘Bullseye’ statement was a mistake.
During his NBC interview, Mr Biden claimed it was a mistake to encourage supporters to “it’s time to put Trump in the bullseye” before the attempted assassination of the former president on Saturday.

He added that I meant to focus on him, what he’s doing, his policies, and the number of lies he told throughout the debate.
Following an attempted assassination at a Republican campaign rally in Pennsylvania, the US president called for a “cooling down” of political abuse.
It matters if you accept the election results, he said.
“It matters whether or not you… discuss how you intend to deal with the border rather than referring to individuals as vermin. These items are important. That kind of talk is provocative.”
When asked if he was considering dropping out of the presidential race, Mr. Biden said, “No.”
He claimed he had been “demonstrating to the American people that I have command of all my faculties” since his debate with Mr Trump, during which he fumbled over words, misspoke, and took long, frequent pauses.
