After going climbing in the foothills north of Los Angeles, British actor Julian Sands was reported missing.
He vanished last Friday in the Baldy Bowl region of the San Gabriel Mountains during severe weather.
Police reported that ground rescue personnel abandoned their search over the weekend due to avalanche dangers, but the drone and helicopter search continued.
Mr. Sands, 65 years old, is well-known for his appearances in popular films and television dramas such as A Room With a View, 24, and Smallville.
President Joe Biden declared a disaster proclamation after weeks of destructive storms ravaged the state of California.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department stated that the search will restart once conditions were safer for rescue teams.

In the last four weeks, it responded to 14 calls on Mount San Antonio, also known as Mount Baldy, and in the surrounding area. The sign advised hikers to avoid the area.
Even experienced hikers are getting into problems, according to the department’s statement. They are also searching for an American hiker who disappeared in the same mountains.
A woman of four, described by her friends as an experienced hiker, died last week after plunging more than 500 feet down Mount Baldy.
Mr. Sands was reported missing around 19:30 on Friday, January 13 (local time).
The department’s search and rescue workers reacted and initiated a search, but severe weather forecasts and trail conditions impeded their efforts.
“However, we continue to search using helicopters and unmanned aerial vehicles when the weather permits,” the statement read.
Mr. Sands has previously discussed his passion for trekking and mountain climbing.
Mr. Sands, who was born in Yorkshire, has starred in dozens of films and television shows. But it was his starring part in the 1985 British romance A Room With a View that brought him worldwide recognition.
His most recent appearance was in the Peter Capaldi-starring drama Benediction.
Mr. Sands lives in the Los Angeles neighborhood of North Hollywood with his wife and three children.
