Catherine “appreciates the history” linked with the post, but she will “focus on the future as she forges her path,” according to a source.
King Charles has announced that William and Kate have become the new Prince and Princess of Wales.
It indicates that William is following in the footsteps of his father and that Kate is the first person since Diana, Princess of Wales, to wear the title Diana held when she was married to Charles.
The children of the couple are currently Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis of Wales.
In a speech to the nation, the King stated, “With Catherine at his side, I am confident that our new Prince and Princess of Wales will continue to inspire and lead our national conversations, bringing the marginalized to the center where they can receive crucial assistance.”
Catherine “appreciates the legacy linked with her post, but will understandably turn to the future as she forges her path,” according to a source.
“The couple is committed to enhancing the trust and respect of the people of Wales over time,” they said, adding that they will approach their new positions “with the same modesty and humility with which they handled their past work.”
Wales had a “long and enduring affinity” with King Charles, according to Welsh First Minister Mark Drakeford, and the nation “looked forward to expanding our partnership with the new Prince and Princess of Wales.”
Camilla, the Queen Consort, was formally the Princess of Wales when she married Prince Charles in 2005, but she never used the title due to its link with Princess Diana, who was killed in a car accident in 1997.
The year before her death, Diana’s divorce resulted in the removal of her HRH style and the changing of her title to Diana, Princess of Wales.
In addition to inheriting the Prince of Wales title from the King, William also inherited the King’s Scottish and Cornwall titles.
William and Catherine are also the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and Rothesay in Scotland.
King Charles stated, “I am pleased to create him Prince of Wales, Tywysog Cymru, the country whose title I have been so honored to carry for so much of my life and service.”
He said, “I also want to express my love for Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan as they continue to establish their life abroad.”
