According to the Metropolitan Police, a lady and a male have been apprehended and are currently detained.
An investigation has been opened into the deaths of two toddlers whose bodies were discovered at a Dagenham, east London, residence.
Friday at approximately 2:00 p.m., emergency personnel were dispatched to a home on Cornwallis Road where the bodies of a two-year-old and a five-year-old child were located.
Metropolitan Police reported that a lady was arrested in connection with the incident shortly after officers were dispatched to a disturbance at a nearby residence.
A male was arrested as well. According to the authorities, both the father and the wife were known to both children.
The police have stated that postmortem exams and official identifications will be conducted in due time.
Detective Inspector Sean Treweek of the East Area BCU of the Metropolitan Police Department stated, “This is a very painful occurrence with many unanswered issues; nevertheless, at this very early point, nobody else is being sought in connection with the fatalities.”
“I would want to thank the community for the support it has provided officers as they work with partner agencies to determine the entire circumstances behind these two unfortunate deaths. Additional officers will be in the area, and anyone with information or concerns should talk with them.
Police said that there are still cordons in place at the scene.
