Sunday, hundreds of PTI supporters gathered in front of the White House as former prime minister Imran Khan warned that elections may not take place in October either.

“There is no rule of law” in Pakistan, Khan told CNN’s Fareed Zakaria.

Workers from the PTI were heard singing patriotic songs and chanting slogans upon their arrival in two buses from Virginia, professing their resolve to continue fighting for democracy in Pakistan.

“Don’t worry, the good times will return” was the message of a song sung to cheer up dejected supporters who were fearful of the crackdown on party workers.

Since Imran Khan’s arrest, buses brought PTI supporters from other areas of Washington. Indicating the party’s increased prominence among the Pakistani-American community.

At the White House, the most prominent slogans were “Pakistan Zindabad” and “Imran Khan Zindabad.” In contrast to previous demonstrations, no anti-military slogans were chanted.

“The country is ours, and so is the army,” declared Johnny Bashir, a local PTI leader. “We are up against a handful of generals.”

Mr. Khan complained to Fareed Zakaria that police had surrounded his Lahore residence and searched every visitor.

“One evening… I opened my home to the media” to disprove the government’s claim that terrorists were hiding inside.
