Armed officers killed a suspected attacker in Munich this morning after bullets were fired near the Israeli Consulate General and the city’s Nazi Documentation Centre.
Munich police confirmed a large-scale operation in Briennerstrasse and Karolinenplatz, establishing a perimeter and deploying a police aircraft over the site.
The guy is claimed to have fired several bullets at police stations near the Israeli consulate building, which is only a few yards away from the Munich Documentation Centre. This former Nazi party headquarters is now dedicated to confronting the city’s problematic history.
Munich police confirmed that armed police officers shot the man, and he later died of his injuries. No one else is believed to have been injured in the incident.
The horrifying episode occurred on the anniversary of the infamous 1972 Munich Olympics massacre, in which 11 Israeli athletes were massacred by the Palestinian militant group ‘Black September.’
In a video uploaded on social media, armed police were seen approaching the consulate building in tactical gear, with weapons drawn to guard the area.
Today’s attack occurred while the building was closed for a memorial service for the 1972 massacre.
A barrage of strong gunshots could be heard ringing out in another horrifying video published by a German journalist on social media this morning.
The frantic video also shows a panicked individual rushing from the firing spot.
Benedikt Franke, deputy chairman and CEO of the Munich Security Conference (MSC), told German source BILD that armed police arrived at the area this morning.
‘The police have cordoned off our office, which is located directly close to the Nazi Documentation Centre in central Munich. Our personnel are on lockdown.
‘A big bang was heard at exactly 9:10 a.m. At least twelve gunfire were heard. We don’t know anything more at the moment. Emergency personnel are currently deployed on the streets.
The incident occurred on a particularly sensitive date: the anniversary of the 1972 Munich Olympics attack.
During the terrible event, Palestinian radicals kidnapped and eventually murdered eleven Israeli athletes, making it one of the darkest moments in Olympic history.

In a statement following today’s event, Israeli diplomat Talya Lador-Fresger said, “We are very grateful to the police forces in Munich for their actions and cooperation.” This event demonstrates how dangerous the growth of anti-Semitism is.
‘It is critical that the general population speak out against it. Our Consulate General was closed today to mark 52 years since the terrorist assault at the Olympic Games.
The 1972 massacre began as a hostage crisis in the early morning hours of September 5, when eight armed members of the Black September terrorist group invaded the Munich Olympic Village and used stolen keys to enter two apartments occupied by the Israeli Olympic team.
Some team members opposed the entry, resulting in the deaths of two.
The organization then kidnapped nine people, including a spokesman who demanded the release of 234 Palestinian prisoners imprisoned in Israel and Red Army Faction leaders Ulrike Meinhof and Andreas Baader in West Germany.
Black September also wanted a plane for their departure.
After contemplating whether to negotiate with the terrorist group, West German authorities concluded that a rescue attempt was the only way to resolve the problem.
They decided to pretend an arrangement with Black September to take the hostages to the neighboring Fürstenfeldbruck Air Base.
The West German police decided to ambush the Black September members there with snipers secretly. Still, the plot failed due to poor communication, bad planning, and an insufficient number of sharpshooters to eliminate all of the terrorists.
The Black September members realized their deception at the airport and engaged in a heated fire battle with West German police.
Despite early media reports that the hostages had all been successfully liberated, all of them were slain in the unsuccessful rescue attempt by Black September militants using gunshots or grenades.
The members of Black September were all dead by 1:30 a.m. local time on September 6.
