Admiral Sir Tony Radakin, the chief of military staff for the United Kingdom, stated that Russia was under pressure because “it is running out of people and high-tech missiles.”
Admiral Sir Tony Radakin stated that Vladimir Putin utilized twenty-five percent of the Russian force for “small” benefits.
Even while Russia may win “tactical successes” in the next weeks, he dismissed as “nonsense” the notion that the war was a success.
Sir Tony, the chief of defense staff of the United Kingdom, stated that Russia was running out of troops and modern missiles and would never be able to conquer all of Ukraine.
Ben Wallace, the defense minister, recently told that it is “very likely” that the United Kingdom will contribute hundreds of additional troops to a NATO force in Estonia charged with further deterring Russia.
Sir Tony stated, “This is a terrible error by Russia. Ukraine will never be ruled by Russia.
“Russia has already lost strategically. NATO is stronger, and Finland and Sweden are considering membership.”
He stated that Moscow had been forced to abandon its plans to seize control of the majority of Ukrainian cities and was now engaged in a “difficult” tactical war.
Sir Tony stated, “The Russian machine is grinding away and gaining two, three, or five kilometers every day.”
“This is difficult for Ukraine, but this will be a lengthy battle. And we are supporting Ukraine, which has demonstrated its fortitude.
Russia has weaknesses because it is running out of both personnel and high-tech missiles.
He stated, “President Putin has expended around 25 percent of his army’s strength to acquire a negligible amount of territory and 50,000 dead or injured people.”
He stated that Russia is now a “weaker power” diplomatically and economically than it was many months ago.
“It is ridiculous to suggest that this is a success for Russia. Russia is in decline.
“There may have been some tactical successes in recent weeks. And this may continue for the following weeks.
However, Russia is losing strategic ground.
Key developments in Ukraine: • EU leaders support Ukraine’s bid to join the bloc; • UN says deaths from the battle for the key port city of Mariupol are likely to be “in the thousands” and “gross violations” of international human rights law occurred; • At least four people were killed and seven injured after an airstrike hit the eastern city of Lysychansk; • A total of 660 Ukrainian families in England are either homeless or at risk of becoming homeless after fleeing the conflict in Ukraine;
Sir Tony said that he was in communication with his Ukrainian counterpart, General Valerii Zaluzhnyi, who acknowledged that they were engaged in a “difficult war” in the east.
On Thursday, the defense secretary stated that Russia overpowered Ukraine in artillery fire by a ratio of 20 to 1.
But Mr. Wallace told Sky’s military and security journalist, Deborah Haynes, that Ukraine would soon be able to make “major gains in the country’s east” because allies were beginning to provide long-range artillery and rocket weapons.
Sir Tony praised the Ukrainians. He stated, “They are courageous people.” “They are creative in the manner in which they are fighting the Russians.
However, they are also sincere in admitting that they need assistance.
He stated that the United Kingdom would continue to support Ukraine and that “we are in this for the long haul.”
This week, the adviser to the Ukrainian president, Mykhailo Podolyak, urged the West to assist Ukraine in achieving “heavy weapons parity” with Russia, requesting more heavy artillery, rocket systems, and vehicles.
Sir Tony stated that he was “wary” of terms such as parity because no single capacity would determine the war’s fate.
He stated that the United Kingdom is delivering MLRS rocket systems and just sent 120 armored fighting vehicles.
He stated, “We have been sending anti-tank weapons, as well as other things, and this will continue.”
However, it is the world community as a whole, together with the courage and determination of the Ukrainian armed forces to fight for their country, that makes the difference.
Therein lies the true balance of power and the true strength of Ukraine.
