The Metropolitan Police believe the woman was walking along Stockwell Park Walk when she was assaulted by a man approaching her from behind. According to the police, there is no evidence that the victim and the suspect knew each other.
A guy was arrested for murder after a stranger stabbed a 31-year-old lady in south London.
Monday afternoon, police were summoned to Stockwell Park Walk in Brixton after reports of a stabbing.
The victim was discovered with stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the site.
According to the Metropolitan Police, a 33-year-old man has been apprehended and is currently detained.
Police suspect the woman was attacked by a guy who approached her from behind while walking along Stockwell Park Walk.
A Met Police spokesperson said there is no proof that the victim and suspect knew each other at this point.
Lambeth’s local police commander, Detective Chief Superintendent Seb Adjei-Addoh, stated, “This is a shocking attack, and my sympathies are with the woman’s family and friends as they come to terms with this terrible news. We will do everything possible to assist them during this incredibly challenging time.
“I recognize the significant concern this incident has caused, and I’d like to reassure you that a team of dedicated detectives is conducting multiple investigations and has made an arrest.
Despite this, we have additional officers in the area to respond to any community concerns. Also I would ask that any suspicious activity be reported to us.
A formal identification and post-mortem examination will be conducted, according to the police.
