Meta experienced a massive outage, taking out connectivity for Facebook, Messenger, and Instagram users across the United States.
Tens of thousands of Americans reported troubles with the applications and websites.
Downdetector, a website that monitors online outages, reported problems on Mark Zuckerberg’s platforms around 1 p.m. ET.
The user reported being logged out of their accounts with a session expiry warning displayed.
According to Downdetector issue reports, the majority of Facebook users (63 percent) are unable to log in to their accounts, followed by website issues (27 percent) and server connection glitches (10 percent).

The app was responsible for around 75 percent of Instagram’s downtime, followed by the website (14 percent) and account logging (10 percent).
In addition, 78% of Messenger users could not log in, 17% could not send messages, and only 4% could not receive notifications.
Major cities, including Los Angeles, New York City, Dallas, Tampa, and Boston, have experienced issues with all three social networking platforms.
Users expressed dissatisfaction on another social media platform, Elon Musk’s X.
X user Bruce Wayne wrote, ‘I love how the first thing you do when Instagram goes down is come here just to make sure.’
Another user complained that Facebook ‘had been weird all day,’ ‘blocking’ some postings.
