Kym Marsh has been revealed as the second competitor for this season’s Strictly Come Dancing.

The actress and television hostess presently anchors BBC One’s Morning Live and has previously been in Coronation Street and The Syndicate.

Will Mellor and Kym Marsh join Strictly Come Dancing 2022's cast.

Marsh said, “I’m anxious, but I’m looking forward to it.”

She joins actor Will Mellor, who was introduced as a candidate earlier this year.

Marsh was a member of the pop group Hear’Say, which was formed on the talent program Popstars, in the early 2000s.

Marsh stated regarding joining Strictly, “It’s been a long time since I’ve been on stage performing in that manner, so it’s going to be extremely difficult, but I’m ready for the challenge.”

When asked how she would handle criticism from the judges, she remarked, “Listen, I was judged by Nasty Nigel in Popstars; he was the villain back then, so I think I’ll be alright.”

Mellor is well-known for his roles in Hollyoaks, Coronation Street, Casualty, and Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps, as stated earlier on Thursday.

The actor stated that he was “genuinely thrilled to be participating” in Strictly Come Dancing.

Mellor told that participating in the show was becoming increasingly frightening.

When asked if he could dance well, he responded, “It depends on your definition of well. I dance in the kitchen or at parties like everyone else, but what I’m doing here is completely out of my comfort zone.

He added, “A while ago, my perspective entirely shifted, and I decided that I must begin doing things that scare me.

“I lost my father in 2020, and from that point on I realized I had to seize life. I need to make fresh memories.”

When I Need You by Mellor reached number five on the UK singles chart in 1998.

Recently, he toured the United Kingdom with a live version of Two Pints with Will and Ralf, the popular podcast he co-hosts with Ralf Little.

This year, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, and Shirley Ballas will all return to the Strictly judging panel.

They will be joined once more by Anton Du Beke, who has replaced Bruno Tonioli permanently.
