Tupac Shakur will be honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame 26 years after his death.
On June 7, a ceremony will be held on the prestigious Los Angeles walkway to honor the hip-hop icon.
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce verified to the LA Times that the rapper would receive the honor posthumously.
Shakur, whose star will be number 2,758 on the Walk of Fame, was a New York-born rapper who also had a significant impact on the West Coast rap culture.
Tupac’s sister, Sekyiwa “Set” Shakur, will receive the honor on his behalf during the star’s formal opening ceremony.
Big Boy, a Los Angeles radio personality, will preside over the ceremony. While director Allen Hughes and author Jamal Joseph will deliver the keynote address.
Shakur, whose stage name was stylized as 2Pac, issued his debut album in 1991 and achieved chart success with songs such as California Love, All Eyez on Me, Changes, and I Ain’t Mad at Cha.
He perished in Las Vegas on September 13, 1996, at the age of 25, after being shot four times.
In 2004, his posthumous tune Ghetto Gospel topped the UK singles chart, sampling Elton John’s Indian Sunset.
