- DOJ to Sue SpaceX for Discrimination
- SpaceX’s False Assertion on Hiring Foreign Nationals
- Investigation Reveals Discriminatory Hiring Practices
The US Department of Justice has announced that it will sue Elon Musk’s SpaceX because the rocket company discriminates against refugees and asylum seekers in its hiring practices.
The Department of Justice asserts that SpaceX falsely asserted it could not employ foreign nationals.
A foreign employee’s discrimination claims spurred the DoJ’s SpaceX probe.
Our investigation found that SpaceX failed to fairly consider or hire asylees and refugees because of their citizenship status and imposed what amounted to a ban on their hiring regardless of their qualifications, in violation of federal law,” said Kristen Clarke, Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice.
Ms. Clarke added that the DOJ investigation determined “SpaceX recruiters and high-level officials actively discouraged asylees and refugees from applying for employment”.
